  • Certified vet nurse on the grooming table Shannon notices skin conditions, lumps, ear infections, and early signs of joint discomfort that owners and other groomers often miss.
  • Calm, unhurried handling She reads each dog rather than rushing through the appointment. Dogs that have had difficult experiences at other salons settle quickly with Shannon.

"Stanley is never that keen on the bath or the pedicure, but Shannon makes him so calm and comfortable. We all get very wet during the process! He is shiny and smells divine! Thank you"

FAQs

Common Questions

How much does dog grooming cost in Christchurch?

At Kuri City, a full groom starts at $89 for small breeds and $110 for medium breeds. A bath and tidy starts at $48. Prices depend on breed size and coat condition and are confirmed when you book.

How often should I groom my dog?

It depends on the coat type. Short-coated breeds may need a full groom every 8–12 weeks. Long-coated breeds — Cavoodles, Maltese, Shih Tzus — generally benefit from a groom every 6–8 weeks to keep the coat manageable and mat-free. Shannon can recommend a schedule based on your dog's breed and coat at the first appointment.

Do you groom anxious dogs?

Yes. Shannon works with anxious and sensitive dogs regularly. Her vet nursing background and 26 years of experience mean she knows how to adjust her handling for dogs that find grooming stressful. If your dog has had difficult experiences at other salons, let Shannon know when you book.

What about a puppy's first groom?

The first groom is an important one. Shannon introduces puppies to the grooming environment gradually, using the appointment to build positive associations rather than rushing through the cut. A puppy that has a good first experience is a dog that will handle grooming confidently for the rest of its life.

Do you groom cats and other animals?

Yes. Shannon grooms cats and rabbits in addition to dogs. Call ahead to discuss your animal's needs: (03) 355 5874.

Do I need to be a Kuri City daycare customer to book a groom?

No. Grooming is open to all dogs, all breeds, all sizes. You do not need to use any other Kuri service to book with Shannon.
