Shannon. 26 years' experience. Certified groomer and vet nurse. The same calm hands, every appointment.
All breeds and sizes welcome. Based at 473 St Asaph Street, Phillipstown. Mon–Fri 7am–6pm, Sat 10am–2pm.
Shannon McGarry has been grooming dogs in Christchurch for 26 years. She is also a certified vet nurse. That combination is rare, and it matters: a groom with Shannon is also, in effect, a health check-in.
Book a Groom with Shannon"Stanley is never that keen on the bath or the pedicure, but Shannon makes him so calm and comfortable. We all get very wet during the process! He is shiny and smells divine! Thank you"

Prices may vary depending on coat condition and are confirmed at the time of booking. Shannon's schedule fills up quickly, particularly on Fridays and ahead of public holidays. Booking a few weeks in advance is recommended.
Every appointment runs at a pace that keeps your dog comfortable. Here is how it works from arrival to pick-up.
Bring your dog in on a lead. Let Shannon know about any health concerns, sensitivities, or past grooming experiences. The more she knows upfront, the better she can tailor the appointment.
Shannon works at a pace that keeps your dog comfortable. If she notices anything worth checking with your vet, she will call you during the appointment rather than leaving a note at pick-up.
Your dog comes back clean, trimmed, and ready to go. Shannon will walk you through what she did and note any style preferences for next time.
You do not need to be a Kuri City daycare customer to book a groom. Grooming is open to all dogs, all breeds, all sizes.
Shannon also grooms cats and rabbits. Call ahead to discuss your animal's needs.

At Kuri City, a full groom starts at $89 for small breeds and $110 for medium breeds. A bath and tidy starts at $48. Prices depend on breed size and coat condition and are confirmed when you book.
It depends on the coat type. Short-coated breeds may need a full groom every 8–12 weeks. Long-coated breeds — Cavoodles, Maltese, Shih Tzus — generally benefit from a groom every 6–8 weeks to keep the coat manageable and mat-free. Shannon can recommend a schedule based on your dog's breed and coat at the first appointment.
Yes. Shannon works with anxious and sensitive dogs regularly. Her vet nursing background and 26 years of experience mean she knows how to adjust her handling for dogs that find grooming stressful. If your dog has had difficult experiences at other salons, let Shannon know when you book.
The first groom is an important one. Shannon introduces puppies to the grooming environment gradually, using the appointment to build positive associations rather than rushing through the cut. A puppy that has a good first experience is a dog that will handle grooming confidently for the rest of its life.
Yes. Shannon grooms cats and rabbits in addition to dogs. Call ahead to discuss your animal's needs: (03) 355 5874.
